In college, I took a liking to the groove and style of NoLa Funk and Second Line. I had played in rock bands, jazz combos and ensembles… but all on bass guitar. I even learned bass trombone in high school since there wasn’t a tuba part. After college, I found my sousaphone and went to work developing my modern approach to this New Orleans legendary instrument.

Sound Makers Union

For six years, my band Sound Makers Union played all of the Baltimore, DC area. Performing at festivals, block parties, rock climbing gyms, dive bars and breweries. I collaborated with our guitarist, Jamie Frank, who wrote most of our tunes to develop bass lines.
